Diba M. Diba is a partner at Thabiso Tafila Attorneys. Diba obtained his Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Botswana in 2000. Experience
Diba has been practicing law for almost two decades now. Upon completion of his LLB degree, in 2000 he joined Moeletsi & Motumise Attorneys. He was admitted as an attorney, notary and conveyancer the same year. In 2004, he joined Minchin & Kelly (Botswana) until 2010 when he moved to Stanbic Bank. He was with Stanbic for seven years as the Senior Legal Manager. He spent two of those years as a Client Coverage Manager in the Corporate and Investment Bank division.

At Stanbic Bank, he served on the bank’s Management Committee (MANCO) and Credit Management Committee (Credit MANCO) and was a trustee of the Stanbic Bank Pension Fund.
He represents the Botswana Law Society in the Botswana Law Reporting Committee. The Law Reporting Committee’s main role is reporting of judgments of the superior courts in and the production of the Botswana Law Reports.
Diba is a passionate community activist. He is involved with the Maitengwe For Education initiative, a trust that aims to participate in and support the education of children from the village of Maitengwe. The group acts as an advisory body to the schools and parents in Maitengwe to encourage and promote the education of the children. He has tirelessly donated his time and skills to assist set up and register trusts for interest groups, especially the youth, to help promote their interests.

Practice Areas
Phazha Molebatsi is a partner attorney at Thabiso Tafila Attorneys. Phazha has made his mark in the advancement of human rights in Botswana and Africa. He recently joined Thabiso Tafila Attorneys from the Botswana Network on Ethics Law and HIV/AIDS (BONELA) where he served as a policy and legal advisor, heading the organization’s advocacy, human rights, and law program. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law from the University of Botswana, a Postgraduate Certificate in Enterprise Risk Management from the Botswana Accountancy College and is a Fellow of the Mandela Washington Fellowship obtained from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
Experience
Prior to venturing into human rights, Phazha worked at Ndadi Law Firm as well as at Osei-Ofei Swabi & Co. where he represented a variety of clients comprising of leading corporate entities and ordinary members of the public. He has considerable experience in conveyancing, human rights strategic impact litigation, debt recovery and labour law. Throughout his career he has been involved in different kinds of litigation including:
- General debt recovery, litigation for leading financial institutions such as banks and real estate entities in Botswana.
- Human rights litigation such as the Khwarae Constitutional Law Case.
- General labour law Iitigation.

Pako Ralehika-Phiri is a partner attorney at Thabiso Tafila Attorneys. She graduated from the University of Botswana in 2006, where she was conferred a Bachelor of Law Degree. In 2010 she obtained Master’s Degree in Law with specialization on Corporate Finance from Westminster University in the United Kingdom. She also holds a Certificate in Compliance Management obtained from the University of Johannesburg in (2013). She has substantial wealth of experience in Communications Law covering Telecommunications, Broadcasting and Postal Regulation. She also has experience in General Corporate Law, Contract Drafting, Fund Management, Corporate Governance.
EXPERIENCE
Pako is an attorney with more than (10 years) experience spanning from the time when she started her career at Armstrong Attorneys and later worked as a Magistrate under the Department of the Administration of Justice. She later joined the Botswana Communications Regulatory Authority (BOCRA) (then known as Botswana Telecommunications Authority) in September 2010 where she rose through the ranks until she was appointed the Authority’s Board Secretary and Corporate Legal Advisor. During employment at BOCRA she contributed in various ways, amongst others, she was member of the Working Team that contributed to both the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act and the Electronic Records (Evidence) Act, which Acts were passed into legislation in 2014. She joins Thabiso Tafila Attorneys as a Partner after working for BOCRA for six years nine months.

Practice Areas
Thabiso Tafila is the managing partner at Thabiso Tafila Attorneys. He is head of labour relations, criminal and general litigation. He is a highly experienced lawyer in all aspects of litigation, and at all levels from the Magistrate’s Court, High Court through to the Court of Appeals. Thabiso’s general litigation practice includes civil and matrimonial matters. He advises local and international companies, the general public as well as the private sector with legal and practical knowledge of criminal defence, labour law, general and civil litigation, matrimonial and administrative law, company formation, conveyancing and administration of estates. His clients include various NGOs, the Botswana National Productivity Centre, Statistics Botswana, Trade Unions and other organisations.
Thabiso was involved in the establishment of the Attorney General’s office in Francistown. He proceeded to head this office albeit for a short time before transferring to the conveyancing department in Gaborone on promotion.
CAREER
Thabiso started his career in 1983 as a prosecutor in the Prosecution Division of the Botswana Government. In 1986 he was appointed the acting Registrar of Deeds dealing with all conveyancing matters throughout Botswana. In 1987, Thabiso joined Minchin & Kelly as a professional assistant becoming a partner two years later. After serving Minchin & Kelly for 30 years as a partner, he decided to retire and establish his own practice, Thabiso Tafila Attorneys.

Thabiso Tafila is the chairman of the Botswana Gambling Authority, a body corporate regulating gambling and gaming activities in Botswana. He has also served as legal advisor and board member of the Botswana Savings Bank, a member of the world Savings Bank Organisations.
