Biography
Allan Waniala specialises in commercial litigation and arbitration and represents clients in both contentious and non-contentious matters in areas of law such as banking and financial services, commercial contracts, construction, negligence and product liability, employment, transport, insurance, real estate and regulatory affairs. Allan also has experience in arbitration under both domestic and international arbitration frameworks.

- Advocate admitted to the High Court of Uganda.

- Queen Mary University of London: Master of Laws (Comparative and International Dispute Resolution) (in progress).
- Makerere University: Bachelor of Laws.
- Law Development Centre: Post-Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice (bar qualification).

- Vivo Energy in a prosecuting a high value recovery and asset-tracing claim.
- National Social Security Fund in industry-significant appellate proceedings to determine the contributory status (whether excepted or not) of the former employees of a privatized government parastatal.
- Absa Bank in defending a complex claim for fraud and breach of duty in relation to the receivership of a borrower.
- Ecobank in defending a high-value claim for breach of the banker-customer relationship.
- Africell Uganda Limited in proceedings to set aside an arbitral award arising from multibillion shilling ad hoc arbitration proceedings.
- Vivo Energy in proceedings to recover property on account of fraud, including a landmark re-evaluation of an aggrieved party’s entitlement to mesne profits.
