MRB Attorneys alone and or in collaboration with other associated firms and consultants, have accomplished a number of investments, commercial and transactional advisory work for different clients; including inter alia:
- Drafted and advised on a Joint venture agreement between Banque Populaire du Rwanda Ltd on a joint venture transaction for the construction of a mega commercial complex in Kigali;
- Advised on the due execution on the line of credit for Rwanda Development Bank from European Investment Bank;
- Have advised and continue to advice Equity Bank, Bank of Kigali, Ecobank, I&M Bank and Rwanda Development Bank on different transactions including drafting, review and analysis of several loan and security agreements;
- Undertook due diligence and advised on the divestiture of some of the GoR Equity in MAGERWA;
- Advised in the loan acquisition negotiations and contract drafting for Vision Hotel Ltd (Fair Construction Ltd) and PTA bank, Kenya Commercial bank and BRD Ltd;
- Undertook due diligence for FINA Bank for anticipated medium note listing on the Rwanda Stock Exchange;
- Have advised, handled and continue to handle receivership and insolvency transactions such as SOPROTEL Ltd and KP1
- In conjunction with the Law Development Partnership (LDP) of UK, MRB undertook advisory services for the Rwanda Law Reform Commission on harmonization and approximation of Rwandan Laws to the East African Community Treaty, Protocols, directives and decisions. This included doing a comprehensive legal audit, as well asreviewing, redrafting and or drafting prioritized business laws such as the laws on partnerships (limited and unlimited), the Law on Companies and the Law on Insolvency.
- Provided legal advisory services to support the International Gorilla Conservation Programme (IGCP) to review and regularize its domicile in Rwanda. The transaction involved reviewing and redrafting all its Constitutive documents, Partnership agreements and Headquarters Agreement.
- In collaboration with the Centre for Effective Dispute Resolution (CEDR) of UK, MRB acted as local counsel on advising and supporting the Kigali International Arbitration Centre (KIAC) develop an all-inclusive and effective Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) policy for Rwanda, a strategy as well as reviewing and redrafting of mediation regulations
- In collaboration with the Institute of Legal Practice & Development (ILPD), MRB provided the lead consultant to undertake a comparative institutional, skills levels and gaps study for the Rwanda bar Association (RBA) in order to propose a short and long term capacity development program for purposes of enabling RBA lawyers to get prepared to fit within the East African Community anticipated cross boarder legal practice framework
- Provided legal advisory services as local counsel on a complex syndicated loan and related security documentation to support the establishment of a peat extraction project and development of a peat energy plant by the HAKAN GROUP in Rwanda. MRB was engaged to review and advise on all documents ranging from loan agreements, concession agreements, mortgages, guarantees debentures and other security instruments to ensure that they are in line with Rwanda’s legal and regulatory framework, registrable in an enforceable under Rwandan law.

Anita is the one of the founding partners of MRB. She is a senior member of the Rwandan bar with a great training and experience in the civil law system. Anita possess an LLB degree from the, National University of Rwanda (NUR, 1996), LLM, FUSL- Universite Catholique de Louvain (2005).
Anita is a senior advocate who started her Legal practice as an advocate in 1998 working her way up as one of the most prolific commercial and litigation attorneys in Rwanda. She has worked on many commercial transaction advisory cases including dispute resolution, due diligences and insolvencies.
She has served as acting President of the Rwanda Bar Association (RBA), served as dean and council member of RBA, council member of the East African Law Society, a member of the RBA, the East African Law Society and the International Bar Association. She has a great grounding in Kinyarwanda and French. Anita brings to MRB more than a decade and a half of immense experience in legal practice and academia having taught law at the National University of Rwanda, the Independent University of Kigali (ULK) and at the Institute of Legal Practice & Development (ILPD).

Mr. Richard Mugisha holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (BA), a Bachelor of Laws degree(LLB) from the University of Lesotho in 1994 and Master of Laws (LLM) from New York University.
He is the Senior Partner of the firm that he founded in 2004. Formerly, he was the Manager, Procurement Policy and Legal affairs at the Rwanda National Tender Board for over five years. In the academic domain, he has taught and conducted tutorials at the University of Rwanda and Kigali Institute of Management, Science and Technology
He has led numerous assignments in Energy, Infrastructure & Mining as well as Banking and Finance and has been at the forefront of almost all the privatization deals in Rwanda.
He is cited by Chambers & Partners as a band 1 Attorney who is “go-to lawyer and a great negotiator” and “a leading Lawyer” by IFLR1000 legal directories.
He is the former President of the East African Law Society (EALS) and the former Chairman of the Business Law Reform Commission which reviewed all legislation affecting the commercial environment in Rwanda and serves on various National Committees, foundations and Company Boards in Rwanda.
He is a member of the Rwanda Bar Association and a fellow of the Africa Leadership Initiative and the Aspen Global Leadership Network. He has also been appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Rwanda with residence in Kigali.
He is a native speaker of Kinyarwanda, has excellent command of English and a working knowledge of French.

Law Society and is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, London. Remy is a professional trained mediator and is a notary as well.
Remy has acquired great experience in litigation, arbitration, mediation and advisory work having handled for more than ten years numerous criminal, commercial, labor, civil and many other cases. He has got great experience in criminal investigation having participated in big investigations. He is a trainer for the Rwanda Bar Association and a
member of the Rwanda Bar Association legal commission. Remy is a native speaker of Kinyarwanda, fluent in French and English and has a good command of Swahili.

Mr. Ndahiro Arnold obtained his Bachelor of Law Degree (LLB) in 2022 from the University of Rwanda. He began his legal career with us at Trust Law Chambers in 2022 and handles general commercial matters. He is also currently pursuing a Diploma in Legal Practice from the Institute of Legal Practice and Development. He is highly motivated and strives for excellence in his responsibilities. He previously worked at Purpose Rwanda, a non-governmental organization, where he assisted in drafting their internal rules and regulations. Mr. Moise Nkundabarashi obtained his Bachelor of Laws Degree (LLB) from the National University of Rwanda in 2008.
